ADA, Okla. – One of the biggest and brightest stars in the Professional Bull Rid= ers organization is putting his own brand on the sport.

Three-time PBR World Finali= st Cord McCoy will bring the best bull riders in the world to southeastern Oklahoma for the Cord McCoy Invitational on May 29-= 30, 2009, at the Pontotoc County Agri-Plex, just a stone’s throw from McCoy’s Tupelo, Okla., home.

“This event is for th= e fans who not only love bull riding, but it’s also for the people that have supported me throughout my career,” said McCoy, 28, who has competed = in rodeo all of his life.

The five-time International Professional Rodeo Association champion – including two coveted all-around titles – has gone from being a favorite son to his home st= ate of Oklahoma to being a fan favorite worldwide. His smile comes easy, whether he rides f= or 90 points or is bucked off at the buzzer. That’s why so many fans have fallen for McCoy.

“I’m living a dream,” said McCoy, the youngest of five children raised on a ranch n= ear Tupelo. “Do= ing something you absolutely love for a living is hard to beat.”

The Cord McCoy Invitational= will be part of the Enterprise Rent-A-Car Tour, and money won in Ada will count toward qualification to th= e PBR’s World Finals, which take place each fall = in Las Vegas. The to= p 45 cowboys on the money list at the end of the regular season qualify for the year-end championship, and McCoy has played on the PBR= ’s biggest stage each of the last three years.

Tickets will go on sale tow= ard the end of April, first of May. The Pontotoc County Agri-P= lex will seat about 5,000 fans, so it will be imperative for those interested in seeing some of the greatest cowboys battling the toughest bulls in the busi= ness to get their tickets in advance.

“I want this to be on= e of the best events in the PBR ever year,” he said. “The fans deserve t= he best, and I will work very hard to make sure this is the best.”
