Cord McCoy Invitational athletes, personnel to meet with fans

 

ADA, Okla. – There’s a flurry of = things happening in order to produce one of the biggest events Pontotoc County has ever seen.

But for the athletes and pe= rsonnel involved in the Cord McCoy Invitational presented by Cooper Tires, set for = 7:30 p.m. May 29-30 at the Pontotoc County Agri-Plex= in Ada, it’s a chance to connect with the people that have affected their liv= es most: The fans.

“Shoot, to me, itR= 17;s just talking to my friends, the people who care about me and want to see me succeed,” said McCoy, one of the most popular cowboys in the Professi= onal Bull Riders organization who has lived his entire life in Tupelo. “I love bull riding, and I’m living my dream. But the truth is, it’s the fans we ride for, because they spend their time and their mo= ney to come see us ride.”

Some of the appearances have already taken place, but the bulk of the meet-n-greets and gatherings will = be Thursday, Friday and Saturday and will feature McCoy and the bullfighters w= ho are part of the Professional Bullfighters Daisy Protection Bullfight Tour. =

The Cord McCoy Invitational presented by Cooper Tires will be part of the Enterprise Rent-A-Car Tour, a= nd money won in Ada will count toward qualification to the PBR’s W= orld Finals, which take place each fall in Las Vegas. The top 45 cowboys on the money list at the= end of the regular season qualify for the year-end championship, and McCoy has played on the PBR’s biggest stage each of= the last three years.

In addition to the Cord McC= oy Invitational presented by Cooper Tires featuring the best bull riders in the sport, the event will also feature the top athletes in the PBF Daisy Protec= tion Bullfight Tour, a simultaneous competition that focuses on the excitement of aggressive protection bullfighting.

Tickets are on sale now and= can be purchased at SteppinOut Western Outfitters in Ada= and Wynnewood; Stillwater Milling in Davis= ; and the Kountry Store in Tupelo. Advanced tickets for grandstand seating are $15; advanced tickets for CordZone seating are $30.

The Pontotoc County Agri-Plex will seat about 3,500 fans, so it will be imperative for those interested in seeing some of the greatest cowboys batt= ling the toughest bulls in the business to get their tickets in advance.
