McCoys to be par= t of Pink Tie Affair benefiting Relay for Life

 

ADA, Okla. – What started as a little feed to raise a little money for the Ponto= toc County Relay for Life has quickly turned big event.

In conjunction with the Pre= -Paid Legal Services, Inc. Cord McCoy Invitational presented by Ariat and Cooper Tires, the Oh My Gravy, It’s a Pink-Tie Affair will take place at 6 p= .m. Thursday, May 27, at the Pontotoc County Agri-Plex.

“Jet and I are happy = to be part of this event, and we hope to raise a lot of money for the Cancer Soci= ety through Relay for Life,” said McCoy, who, with brother Jet, just completed a fantastic run to finish as runners-up on the CBS-TV reality ser= ies “The Amazing Race.”

The Team McCoy goal is to r= aise $100,000 by Memorial Day weekend, when the Cord McCoy Invitational will showcase som= e of the top names in the Professional Bull Riders tour, the top athletes in the Professional Bullfighters Daisy Protection Bullfight Tour and some of the nastiest bucking beasts in the country. The McCoys hope it’s just sev= eral days of big bucks for folks in and around Pontotoc County.

“Shoot, this is a gre= at deal for Jet and me to be involved in,” Cord said. “When you realize you’re fighting cancer, you know that it’s going to take a lot.= We know it’s going to take a lot of people to beat the race against canc= er.

“With everyone’= s help, we’re going to win this race for Oklahoma and for the American Cancer Society.”

   &nbs= p;        Tickets for the Pink Tie Affair can be picked up at the Ada Area Chamber of Commerc= e or by calling (580) 332-2506. Tickets can be sold to individuals, couples, tab= les of eight and the special seating of the night with Jet and Cord McCoy (limi= ted to 12).

The evening will feature mu= sic by Corybel Country, a group from the Ozarks in southwestern Missouri. The band features family har= monies and an edgy, pure country music.

Daisy Outdoor Products will= have commemorative pink BB guns that will be used to help raise even more money = for the fight against cancer. All of the festivities are expected to be part of= a PBR Tonight show, which airs on RFD-TV.

“It’s really a = cool deal that brings a lot of people together for a great, great cause,” = said Cord McCoy, one of the fan favorites on the PBR tour. “To be associat= ed with it is just awesome.”

Besides the great bull ridi= ng and bullfighting action that’s part of the Cord McCoy Invitational, the weekend will also include a special parade to honor the McCoy brothers̵= 7; finish on “The Amazing Race,” which took place over 23 days and 40,000 and was part of reality-TV’s increased viewer-ship over 12 wee= ks this spring.

“I’ve been bles= sed to make a living doing something I really love, whether it’s on the ranc= h in little ol’ Tupelo, Oklahoma, or riding bulls all over the world,” Cord said. “But it was really awesome to be part of ‘The Amazing Race’ with my best friend and my big brother. Now = we get to keep doing some great things, and being able to raise money for Relay for Life is just cool.”
